Byblos Bank Honors LAU President and Board of Trustees

Byblos Bank Headquarters, Friday 21 April 2017: Dr. François Bassil, Chairman of Byblos Bank Group, hosted a dinner in honor of the President of the Lebanese American University (LAU) and members of its Board of Trustees at “Eau De Vie” restaurant in Phoenicia Hotel Beirut. Along with the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Mr. Philip Stoltzfus and LAU President Dr. Joseph G. Jabbara, in attendance were the members of the Board of Directors of Byblos Bank.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bassil underlined the pivotal role played by LAU in the life of the Lebanese. He said: “As a prestigious academic institution and one of the best educational institutions in Lebanon and the region, we cannot but express our deep gratitude to LAU’s achievements, which have been key to the success of many leaders and decision-makers in the social, economic and other fields.”

He added: “LAU has contributed significantly to making Lebanon what it is today: a beacon of education in the Middle East and a hub of talent and human capital. While we take pride in these achievements, we spare no efforts to preserve them; even strengthen them for the good of our society and country. I am fully confident that the Board’s meetings will achieve their strategic objectives, including increasing the number of academic disciplines, developing the physical and technological infrastructures, strengthening commitment to social responsibility, and securing more resources for developmental projects and scholarships.”

It is to note that Dr. Bassil was a member of the Board of Trustees of LAU, and Byblos Bank is one of the key institutions supporting the University with direct sponsorship of a number of its academic activities as well as its developmental projects that empower staff members, professors, students and alumni.
