Mrs. Joumana Bassil Chelala came 3rd in Lebanon and 39th in the Middle East under the “Executive Management” category in Forbes Middle East’s list of the 200 Most Powerful Arab Women for 2014, published in its September issue. Mrs. Bassil Chelala was ranked in her capacity as Deputy General Manager and Head of Consumer Banking at Byblos Bank Group. The list included 16 Lebanese women, a staggering 8% for such a small country like Lebanon.
“With 2014 coming to an end, this recognition serves as a great boost on a personal level, and will certainly incite me to give my best to maintain Byblos Bank’s leading position in Lebanon,” said Mrs. Bassil Chelala in a statement. “I truly consider this achievement to be a collective one as much as it is a personal one, and I would like to thank every Byblos Bank employee for their hard work and dedication. This is what makes us achievers as an institution and as individuals, and allows us to keep up with our clients’ expectations,” she added.
In recognition of this achievement, Mrs. Bassil Chelala was also honored last month by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Beirut and Mount Lebanon (CCIAB) during a ceremony held at the Chamber’s premises.
“The Lebanese private sector is playing an important role in protecting Lebanon’s economy, thanks to the achievements and creativity of our powerful business women”, said Mr. Mohammad Choucair, President of CCIAB. “We call on Lebanese women to participate more actively in the public sector”, he added.
This acknowledgment is yet another proof that Byblos Bank always strives for excellence, and aims to keep offering the best banking experience in Lebanon while proving that it is truly “Your Bank for Life”.
